1. Data Collection & Processing

This Privacy Policy describes how MOMUS DEV, LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), a Missouri-based limited liability company, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Skannist mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to a "Privacy-First" and "Offline-First" philosophy, ensuring that your data remains under your control.

2. Information We Access

2.1. On-Device Processing

• Camera Access: Skannist requires access to your device's camera solely to scan barcodes. Scanning is performed locally on-device using Google ML Kit. No image data is ever sent to or stored on MOMUS DEV servers. We do not store, transmit, or have access to your live camera feed.
• Local Data: Your scan history, favorites, and dietary preferences are stored exclusively in your device's local storage. We cannot access, see, or sell this information.

2.2. User-Initiated Data Transmission

• Barcode Queries: In "Online Mode," the App sends the scanned barcode to the Open Food Facts API to retrieve nutritional data. This request is encrypted via HTTPS.
• User Contributions: If you choose to contribute to the community database, any photos or data you submit are sent directly to Open Food Facts. Once submitted, this data becomes part of a public database under the Open Database License (ODBL).

3. Third-Party Services

We utilize the following third-party services to provide the App's functionality:

• Open Food Facts: Used for nutritional data retrieval and community contributions. Please refer to the Open Food Facts Privacy Policy for their data handling practices.
• Google ML Kit: Used for on-device barcode recognition. No image data is sent to Google servers during this process.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

• Local Data: You may delete your scan history or favorites at any time within the App settings. Deleting the App will remove all locally stored data.
• No User Accounts: Skannist does not utilize user accounts. Therefore, we do not maintain any personal profiles or identifiable data on our servers.

5. Legal Compliance (GDPR & CCPA)

• California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not "sell" or "share" your personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• European Union Residents (GDPR): Our legal basis for processing is "Contractual Necessity" (to provide the barcode lookup you requested) and "Legitimate Interest" (to improve food transparency).

6. Health and Medical Disclaimer

Skannist is an informational utility only and is not a medical device. The information provided is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Always verify physical labels and consult a healthcare professional before making dietary changes or if you have severe allergies. All scores (Nutri-Score, NOVA) are calculated based on the methodology provided by Open Food Facts.
